이 책은 빛을 찍는 사진가로서의 새로운 사진예술의 영역을 개척해 나가고 있는 이일화 사진작가의 작품세계와 그의 사진예술 작품을 담고 있다. 빛을 찍는 독특한 사진작가의 작품을 이 책을 통해서 만날 수 있다.

작가는 사물과 빛을 입체화시키면서 지금까지 보지 못했던 다양한 빛의 사진을 찍는다. 작가의 작품 사진들은 빛의 문양을 그리며, 때로는 다양한 입체의 모습을 선보인다. 빛이 선율을 그리며, 거대한 숲 속에서, 혹은 건물에서 찬란하게 내리쬐는 창조주 하나님의 작업장의 모습이 되기도 한다.

작가는 그의 사진의 작품 세계와 사진을 찍으면서 그가 추구하고자 하는 창조주 하나님의 빛을 찍는 그의 철학세계를 이 책을 통해서 설명한다. 이 책을 통해서 그의 대표적인 사진들을 감상할 수 있다.

Sounds of light is a book with the photographic arts by Ill Hwa Yi. He is pioneering a new realm of photography art as an artist who captures light. Through this book, you can appreciate the unique styles of works by a photographer who takes light.

The artist takes pictures of various lights that haven’t been seen before, three-dimensionalizing objects and light. His photographic works have patterns of light, sometimes presenting the various figures. Making patterns in a huge forest or from the buildings, the shining light can also be the work place of the Creator God.

In this book the artist shows the world of his photographs and his philosophy of taking the light of the Creator God. You can appreciate his representative works.

The artist throws away the world of the traditional photographic works and he presents a bold challenge. He began to reveal himself as a photographer who is taking pictures of light. The attempt is like the beginning of a bold journey into a new world of photographic art that other photographers usually do not pursue. 꽃들도 그들만의 빛이 있을까요? 작가는 꽃들 사이사이에서도 빛의 모습을 발 견해 냅니다. 작가가 의도하는 빛의 세계는 꽃들의 문양에서도 하나님의 빛의 세계가 보입니다. 꽃들 사이사이로 문양을 만들어내는 창조의 빛은 작가의 주제이며, 또한 희망입니다. 꽃들 사이사이에는 빛이 너울을 쓰듯 걸려 있고, 그 빛을 머리에 쓴 꽃들은 땅을 솟아 일어나는 모습을 보입니다.

Do you think the flowers also have their own lights? The artist also finds a figure of light among the flowers. Even in the patterns of flowers, we see the light of God. The light of creation that creates the patterns between the flowers is his theme and also his hope. 작가가 카메라를 조작하면서 빛을 찍어내는 방법을 선택한 이유는 바로 카메라가 사 물의 빛을 인식하는 광학기라는 점 때문입니다. 빛은 가시광선의 일곱 가지 무지개 색깔의 영 역 가운데에서 사물이 받아들이고 내뱉는 색의 구조에 따라 그 모양이 피사체에 대한 우리의 인식을 달리합니다. 그러나 카메라가 인식하는 빛의 세계는 사람이 인식하는 빛의 세계보다 훨씬 감도가 깊고 세미할 수가 있습니다. 작가는 이 점을 카메라에서 인식합니다. 그래서 카메 라에서 인식할 수 있는 빛의 범위를 최대한 깊이 담아내보고자 하는 것이 작가의 의도입니다. 카메라 렌즈가 운동을 하고, 조리개와 셔터가 일정한 시간과 빛의 영역을 가짐으로써 작가는 모든 사물의 빛이 창조해내는 새로 끊임없는 운동의 모양을 포착해내는 것입니다.

The reason why the artist chose to take pictures of light, manipulating the camera, is that the camera is an optical instrument that recognizes the light of an object. Light makes our perception of the subjects vary according to the structure of the colors accepted and reflected by the objects in the range of the rainbow colors in visible light. But the world of light that the cameras recognize can be much more sensitive than we humans perceive. The artist recognizes this point. That’s why his intention is to capture as deeply as possible the range of light that the camera can recognize. With the camera lens moving and the aperture and the shutter having a certain range of time and light, he captures the forms of the new, constant motions created by the light of all the things.

하나님의 창조 공간

우리 모두에겐 하나님께서 창조하신 손길이 있습니다. 하나님의 손길은 정말 아름다운 빛으로 나타나지요. 가끔 풀 한 포기를 보고, 날으는 새들을 보며, 푸른 숲을 보고, 파란 하늘을볼때면,그가운데광활히흐르는빛을발견할수가있지요. 그보다 정말 아름다운 건, 바로 꽃들의 노래랍니다. 우리가 꽃들을 아름답다고 바라보는 그 순간에도 꽃들은 창조주 하나님의 영광을 노래한답니다.

A Space For God's Creation

We all have a touch of God’s creation. The touch of God comes out as a truly beautiful light. Sometimes when we see a bunch of grass, a flying bird, a green forest, and a blue sky, we can find a light flowing out from them.

What is more beautiful is the song of flowers. Even at the moment when we see the beautiful flowers, they are singing of the glory of God the Creator.

Auther / 저자 소개

1963년 대한민국 출생으로 목사, 저술가, 세무사 등으로 활동하고 있다. 작가는 대한민국 정부의 국세청(National Tax Office) 공무원으로 일한 바 있으며, 신학과 경제, 사진 등 열다섯 권 가량의 저술이 있다. 1980년대 초반 필름 카메라로 사진 작업을 시작하여, 2008년도부터 디지털 카메라로 사진 작업을 해왔으며, 사진예술의 새로운 세계를 구축하고 있다. 한국의 사계절의 자연과 도시의 아름다움을 담은 포토 에세이 ‘사랑 그리고 사랑’이라는 사진집을 2018년도에 출간한 바 있으며, 여러 저서를 통하여 그의 다양한 사진 작품을 선보이고 있다.

최근 작가는 빛의 운동을 사진속에 받아들임으로써, 빛이 만들어내는 환상적인 아름다움을 카메라 프레임에 담는 사진 예술작업에 그의 열정을 쏟고 있다. 작가의 작품 세계는 사물과 빛, 자연, 도 심, 야경 등 다양한 소재를 대상으로 작업이 이루어지고 있으며, 최근 선보이는 빛을 구성하는 사진 작품들은 작가의 새로운 사진예술 세계를 열어내 보인다. 빛을 담은 사진 예술의 세계는 늘 몽환적이다. 빛이 드러내는 다양한 모양을 카메라의 노출과 셔터 속도를 이용하여 카메라의 촬영 시간과 운동, 속도 등에 변화를 줌으로써, 작가는 새로운 사진작품을 창조해낸다.. 작가의 작품을 감상하면 광활한 우주 공간에 빛나는 무지개의 융단, 숲속에 쏟아지며 노래하는 빛들, 끊임없이 융기하며 일어나는 꽃들의 노래, 빛이 뿜어내는 우주 도심의 거리와 같은 환상적인 사진 세계를 경험하게 될 것이다.

The artist was born in South Korea in 1963 and he is a writer, tax accountant, pastor and photographer. He has worked as an official for the National Tax Office in Korean government, and he has written about 15 books in the fields of theology, economics, and photography. Having worked with the film camera in the early 1980s, he has been working on the pictures taken with the digital cameras since 2008. He has opened up his own photographic skills to build the entirely new art. In 2018, he published a photo essay titled Love And Love, which shows the four seasons of Korea and the beauties of the cities. He shows us a variety of his own pictures in his books.

Recently, the artist has been focusing his passion on the art works to put the fantastic beauties which the light creates into the frames by accommodating the movements of light in the pictures. His work is composed up of the various materials such as objects, light, nature, downtowns and night views. The latest works of light are ushering in a new era in his art. The world of photography that the light reveals is always fantastic. He is trying to open a new world of photography art by using the exposure and shutter speed of the camera to the various shapes created by light which are the factors of filming time and movement. When you appreciate his works, you will experience a fantastic world such as the carpet of rainbows shining in the vast outer space, the lights pouring out and singing in the forest, the songs of flowers that rise and rise constantly, and the streets of the space city where the light emanates.

작가의 사진예술 세계는 사진이라는 세계에서 한 걸음 더 나아가 빛의 선과 면과 입체를 앵글에 담음으로써 전혀 사물과는 관계가 없는 애니메이션과 같은 추상적인 세계를 만들어낸다. 이러한 작가의 작품 세계는 심야의 빛으로 아주 가는 빛의 선으로부터, 빛의 면을 만들어내며, 빛의 입체화된 모습들을 형상화시킨다. 때때로 추상적인 면은 깊은 상상력을 발휘해야만 이해할 수 있는 모양을 만들어내기도 한다. 때로 작가의 작품은 빛의 선이 함께 모여 율동하는 모습을 보이기도 한다. 의학자들은 그림이 사람의 뇌에 영향을 주고 활성화시키듯이 이러한 빛의 선의 미세한 조화는 사람의 뇌를 활성화 시킨다고 말한다. 그래서 작가의 작품은 브레인 아트(Brain Art)라고 이해할 수 있다.

The world of the artist’s photographic art goes a step further from the world of photography, creating an abstract world, such as animation which has nothing to do with the objects, by capturing the lines of light, the sides, and the particles in the angle. The world of the artist’s work consists of the late- night lights, which create the fine lines and the sides of light, and shape the 3-dimensional images of light. Sometimes there are some shapes that can be understood by using a deep imagination in an abstract way. Sometimes the lines of light get together and dance. The medical scientists say that just as the pictures affect and activate a person's brain, these fine harmonies of the light lines activate a person's brain. That's why people call it Brain Art.
